Teaching English in Daegu, South Korea!

A Lawyer’s Approval

Good news and not so good news.

Good news first:

1. EPIK is processing our VISA and contract as we speak.

2. Jerf has to get a lawyers approval saying that ‘Jeff ******’ and ‘Jeffrey ******’ are the same person. On his application he just put Jeff, that is what he goes by. He did not however put Jeff on his passport so those names do not match. Although it is a nickname, he needs proof from an official that he is the same person : (

That is a little frustrating, but I knew from the beginning that it wouldn’t be so easy. However, it was brought to our attention that we would be leaving so soon, and that we wont be able to see Jeff’s niece Ella grow up : ( That made us really sad to think about. It is exciting that we are going to explore a new place but it will be sad to leave a whole life behind. The best we can do is SKYPE her!  She will be growing up in a digital age, where skyping might already be the only phone that cool kids use. Or things like skype anyway.

Until next, next time!

  1. Jeff isn’t the only one who had problems with his name in the application process. Believe it or not, my christian name is Lord but I go by James/Jimmy. I received a good few emails and phone calls clearing up the fact that Lord is not my title.

    I blame my parents.

  2. Oh my goodness! I am applying to teach English in Korea too and I have heard these “horror” stories of people having to go through the trouble to prove that they are who they say they are.. but that was a few years back so I can’t believe they are still so inflexible!!!
